Home to approximately 15,000 year-round residents, Carpinteria stretches from the beach to the foothills just a few miles from Santa Barbara, Montecito and Summerland.
Charming and with a relaxed small town ambiance, it draws the accolades of nearly everyone who resides in or visits its family-friendly neighborhoods and modest yet hip downtown. Essentially a suburb of Santa Barbara, although independent of that city’s tourist business, Carpinteria draws its own visitors while also thriving from residential, agricultural and business endeavors. It is truly a self-sustaining community with a downtown core offering a diversity of restaurants, shops and small businesses. Its neighborhoods host a spectrum of residential abodes – from modest bungalows, to beachside condominiums and multi-million dollar estates, and its citizens are proud of their Unified School System as well as two private schools.
Carpinteria’s popular beach is actually two contiguous stretches of sand, Carpinteria City Beach and Carpinteria State Beach & Park, and is a major attraction providing residents and visitors alike a vast playground offering sun, sand and surf. Almost a dozen public parks and a community pool are popular as well.
