Immediately west of Santa Barbara, Goleta is a center for high-tech firms, light industry and is home to the sprawling campus of the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the Santa Barbara International Airport.
Historically, it was the site of one of the largest Native American villages of the Chumash, and the area was first visited by European explorers in the 16th century.
